Craig Chapman

Co-founder and CEO

Craig serves as CEO of Salataris. He has over 20 years experience in the mortgage industry. Craig was instrumental in opening a de novo bank, 1st Commonwealth Bank of Virginia. He grew the mortgage unit to a $30m monthly run rate, which propelled the bank to profitability in under 18 months. Craig is well versed in asset valuation, loss mitigation, underwriting and secondary marketing in addition to sales and marketing best practices and execution. Prior to joining the Bank, he held executive management positions at First National Bank of Arizona (FNBA) and Greenpoint Financial (Capital One). While at FNBA, Craig developed, directed and managed 200 sales professionals, including two tiers of sales managers. He successfully grew the eastern division from a start up to $4 billion in annual production. He was then promoted to national sales manager with responsibility for over 300 sales people and $7 billion in annual production. At Greenpoint, Craig held several leadership positions and ultimately was the Eastern Division correspondent manager and was responsible for increasing volume by 50%.

Jay Patel

Co-founder and COO

Jay serves as COO of Salataris. He has over 12 years experience in the mortgage industry. Prior to founding Salataris, Jay ran national sales production for Mortgage Harmony Corp. During his tenure at Mortgage Harmony, Jay helped foster relationships with numerous mortgage insurance companies and spearheaded numerous strategic alliances with companies performing numerous mortgage banking related services. Jay assisted Mortgage Harmony to expand its product offerings to numerous depository institutions. Prior to Mortgage Harmony, Jay helped organize 1st Commonwealth Bank of VA alongside Craig Chapman. During his tenure at the Bank, Jay oversaw secondary marketing as well as managing and recruiting loan originators. His mortgage banking background began at First National Bank of Arizona (FNBA). He held various roles there, including loan processing, underwriting and regional sales production. Jay was responsible for growing both New York and metro D.C. markets to over $400 million annual production each.

Doug Danko

Managing Partner

Doug serves as a Managing Partner of Salataris. With over 20 years of experience, he most recently was the Customer Group Executive at MERS® CORP Holdings, Inc. (“MERS® ”). As one of the senior executives of the corporation he was responsible for all aspects of sales, marketing and customer relations for their over 4,000 members. Prior to MERS®, Doug was a principle in a Virginia mortgage banking firm specializing in net branching, retail development and Alt-A originations. He also managed the daily secondary operations of United National Mortgage Corporation where he initiated their retail and correspondent division. Doug has been a top wholesale rep at originators such as Sunbelt National Mortgage where he was awarded the President’s Platinum Award twice as well as NatWest Home Mortgage. Doug started his career as a loan officer for America’s Lending Network, a division of Standard Federal Savings Bank (Maryland) where he was a top producer for several years. Doug and his wife live in Northern Virginia with their two children. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
